Last year, from October to December, about 300 dogs were microchipped through the two partner veterinary practices.<\/p>\n\n<p>The campaign focuses on raising awareness among citizens, especially dog owners and keepers, about their obligations to register their animals, vaccinate them to prevent the spread of disease and then sterilise them. On this occasion, we remind you that the municipality will also run a free sterilization campaign this year, and dogs that are not microchipped will not be able to be sterilized during this campaign.<\/p>\n\n<p>&#8220;The program impacts the entire local community in which it is implemented, promoting proper pet care. By offering free microchipping and registration services, owners are encouraged to take responsibility for their dogs, ensuring that they are identified, registered and protected in case of loss or theft,&#8221; says Anca Deac, Oradea City Hall spokesperson.<\/p>\n\n<p>Starting from the reality of society, the local public administration reminds that beyond the rights they have and the facility created by the campaign, dog owners and keepers also have obligations they must respect and that failure to respect these obligations is punishable. If a dog is not microchipped, the fine is between 5,000 and 10,000 lei.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Details of the compulsory microchipping:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>1. <em>Unregistered<\/em> dogs will be considered stray dogs, will not be able to be vaccinated against rabies and will be treated according to the legislation in force (see HG 1059\/2013).<\/p>\n\n<p>2. Dogs <em>already microchipped but not registered<\/em> &#8211; registration will only be possible if the implanted microchip is valid. Otherwise, new microchipping will be used.<\/p>\n\n<p>3. Dogs <em>vaccinated for rabies, not microchipped and not registered<\/em> &#8211; must be identified and registered prior to annual revaccination.<\/p>\n\n<p>4. As of 15 March 2014 it is forbidden to vaccinate unregistered dogs against rabies.<\/p>\n\n<p>5. <em>Newborn<\/em> dogs &#8211; must be microchipped and registered within 90 days of birth prior to sale, donation or release.<\/p>\n\n<p>6. Dogs purchased from <em>pet shops or kennels<\/em> must be microchipped, registered and have a health card at the time of sale.<\/p>\n\n<p>Change of ownership, whelping, sale, donation, loss, theft or death of the animal must be recorded in the Pet Owned Dog Register.
