Deputy Mayor Antonia Nica welcomed the carolers of the festival “That’s the ancient tradition”

Oradea is these days hosting the National Festival of Christmas and New Year’s Customs and Traditions “This is the old tradition”.

On this occasion, Deputy Mayor Antonia Nica received today, December 8, in front of Oradea City Hall, hundreds of children dressed in authentic folk costumes, who delighted the audience with their beautiful carols and songs specific to the winter holidays.

Deputy Mayor Antonia Nica congratulated all those present, children and coordinating teachers, for carrying traditions forward, thanking them on behalf of Oradea City Hall for the show of traditions held in front of the institution.

Organized by the Pro Bambini Association from Oradea, the 12th edition of the festival aims to promote the customs and traditions of Christmas and New Year, as well as to support children’s ensembles in the revival and presentation of authentic folklore. A cultural exchange between children, young people and teachers from Romania and Hungary is also envisaged, by facilitating an educational intercultural exchange where children and young people can value their own traditions, but also to learn and get to know other cultures and their representatives.

500 children from Oradea, Bihor, Maramureș, Sibiu, Bistrița-Năsăud, Cluj, Suceava, Satu Mare and an ensemble of children from Szeged – Hungary will participate in the festival.

The carolers will hold today, December 8, at 16.00, a festival-contest at the House of Culture of the Trade Unions in Oradea, with special guests, the entrance to the event is free.
